Kitesurfing in Hurghada – Sahl Hasheesh
Egypt is not the first place that comes to mind when you think of kitesurfing. Most people associate kitesurfing with tropical paradise islands like Bali or Maui. So, when I decided to take my first kitesurfing lesson in Hurghada, Egypt, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect.
Turns out, I needn’t have worried. , with its warm waters and consistent wind conditions. And Sahl Hasheesh, the location of my lesson, is a beautiful spot with stunning sea views.
The Kitesurfing Lesson
My kitesurfing lesson occurred at Sultan Kiteschool Hurghada, located on the beach in Sahl Hasheesh. After a brief introduction and safety briefing, I was ready to get out on the water.
The first thing you need to do when learning to is get used to flying a kite. This involves learning how to control the kite with the bar and how to keep it in the power zone so that you can generate enough lift to get up on the board. It sounds a lot harder, and I quickly got the hang of it.
Once I had mastered flying a kite, it was time to get onto the board and try my hand at kitesurfing proper. At first, it was a bit daunting trying to keep everything under control while also standing up on the board and moving forward. But with a bit of practice (and a few more face-plants into the water), I soon got the hang of it and was enjoyably gliding across the water’s surface.
Overall, I had an amazing experience learning how to kitesurf in Hurghada. The instructors at Sultan Kiteschool were fantastic, and by the end of my lesson, I felt confident enough to go out and practice independently. If you’re looking for a new and exciting watersport to try on your next holiday, give kitesurfing a go!
